Another gem from the early days of Moray Firth Radio. Ive not edited out the news music or commercials so here we have almost an hour of how things used to be.

I rarely presented the Sunday morning breakfast show but this was broadcast on 1st December 1985.

Lesley McAlpine - now Radio 4 - on the News and the WONDERFUL Joyce McKenzie - RIP - with the Hospital Dedications. Joyce did an amazing amount of work for MFR especially in the first few years before we had an ‘Information Desk’ Very many of the interviews, Features and several of the outside broadcasts were arranged by Joyce. She simply UNDERSTOOD what would work on air and what would not. She was a lovely person too and the station owes her a debt.

AND The MUSIC..... Total FREE CHOICE aimed at a non city non funky audience…… Would be IMPOSSIBLE now

Just discovered this. Sounds just like a BBC local radio station with adverts:-) What a pity Scotland never had BBC local radio. Since the late 1960’s England has had 39 stations fighting the torrent 0f commercialism on the rest of the dial.. Scotland has NONE.

MFR Saturday morning breakfast show 1985….. No ‘Jocks’ allowed and we never gave anyone a ‘gig” So many memories come back listening to this….. Craig, David, Andy, Auntie Jean and more….. And Rod, Neil and Biff on the commercials plus a commercial telling you to get aids to control your diet :-)

Nowadays I say SCONS rather than scoans:-)

Yet more MFR
